Regional Forum
Driving an Inclusive and Productive Digital Transition for Decent Work
Aligning the digital transformation with social justice objectives is critical for laying the foundation for a more inclusive and sustainable future.
The digitalization of economic activities and employment present unprecedented opportunities for growth and innovation; however, it also raises questions about equity, access, and the fair distribution of benefits across different segments of society.
Developing a smooth transition into a more inclusive digital economy requires a human-centred response that focuses on increasing people’s capabilities and business productivity and strengthening the institutions of work in the digital space.
Unlocking this potential, however, requires overcoming challenges such as bridging the digital divide, fostering innovation, ensuring cybersecurity and decent working conditions, meeting the need for skills development, and designing conducive policy frameworks.
Innovative partnerships and solutions are needed to pave the way forward specially for those facing barriers to enter labour markets, including women, people with disabilities, marginalized youth in rural areas and refugees.
The forum is a platform to exchange knowledge and experiences to advance decent work and inclusion the digital economy.
