Starting September 2021, the ILO has been implementing the Employment Intensive Investment Program (EIIP) and decent employment for women in Yemen via its core voluntary funds/Regular Budget Supplementary Account. The project, which ends in February 2023, aims to provide decent short-term jobs for the most vulnerable beneficiaries, with a focus on women and enhance access for women community contractors to sustainable economic opportunities.

Main Objectives

Via this project, the ILO is integrating EIIP approaches into existing cash for work/cash for assistance interventions and implementing EIIP interventions through private sector contracting modality. The project aims to enhance access to sustainable economic opportunities for women community contractors by providing training on business skills development and management, mentorship and customized business support, and start-up/growth capital.

Outputs and Activities

Output 1: Decent short-term jobs provided for the most vulnerable beneficiaries, with focus on women.
o Activity (1): Integrate EIIP approaches into existing cash-for-work/Cash-for-assistance interventions
o Activity (2): Implement EIIP intervention through private sector contracting modality
o Activity (3): Capacity-building for women community contractors

Output 2: Access to sustainable economic opportunities for women community contractors enhanced.
o Activity (1): Implement business skills development and management training
o Activity (2): Provide start-up/growth capital for women community contractors
o Activity (3): Provide mentorship and customized business support
