Germany has contributed US$ 160 million to ILO voluntary non-core funding in 2020-23

Germany is a key partner of the ILO in advancing decent work and social justice worldwide. 

The ILO works closely with the KfW Development Bank, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. 

Thanks to these German partners, governments, workers’ and employers’ organizations and other stakeholders in numerous countries, strengthen their capacity to support employment intensive infrastructure development, a just energy transition, occupational safety and health in supply chains, small and medium enterprise development, including in the agro-food sector, social protection, skills and lifelong learning, gender equality and disability inclusion, impacting the lives of youth, women and men worldwide. 

 In addition to its contributions for specific programmes and projects, in 2022-23, Germany contributed over US$ 1 million to the ILO Regular Budget Supplementary Account, allowing the Office to allocate these funds flexibly when and where they are most needed. 

Furthermore, the ILO benefits from German expertise through the country’s participation in the Junior Professional Officer programme and the secondment of officials.
