Joint ILO/UNESCO Committee of Experts on the Application of the Recommendations concerning Teaching Personnel (CEART)
The Committee of Experts on the Application of the Recommendations concerning Teaching Personnel (CEART) was jointly established by the ILO and UNESCO to promote and monitor the application of two international Recommendations concerning the teaching personnel: the ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers (1966) and the UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel (1997).
Composed of experts on education, teaching and labour from around the world, the CEART examines trends in teaching and how countries are applying the Recommendations. The CEART also examines allegations made by teachers’ organizations concerning the non-respect of the principles of the Recommendations in Member States, and issues findings and makes recommendations for the resolution of such cases.
