The project aims to support the Government of Bangladesh to establish inclusive and accountable frameworks for reintegration complete with capable institutions, systems and schemes that can provide services for sustainable reintegration to returnee migrant workers, and an efficient coordination mechanism.

The project is implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in collaboration with Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE), Government of Bangladesh as well as employers’ and workers’ organizations.

The project also partners with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and the Parliamentary Caucus on Migration and Development.

Project Outcome:

  1. The Government endorses an inclusive, gender responsive and accountable framework for sustainable reintegration.
  2. The Government has a policy-based, well-defined, coordination mechanism with participation of the concerned Ministries and departments to address the issues of sustainable reintegration.
  3. MoEWOE, the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) and the Wage Earners' Welfare Board (WEWB) strengthen systems that connect employers’ organizations and workers’ organizations to skills development and wage-employment for returnee migrant workers.
  4. The Government and the project partners share knowledge on sustainable reintegration of migrant workers to inform programming, policy, and practice.
