The UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights comes to ILO for technical exchanges on the business and human rights agenda

5 October 2023

On 4 October 2023, the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights came to the ILO for a full-day of technical discussions to identify opportunities for closer collaboration and to strengthen coherence and synergies on the business and human rights agenda. The ILO, through its Multinational Enterprises and Enterprise Engagement Unit (MULTI), has a long-standing engagement with OHCHR and the Working Group on business and human rights based on the linkages between the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration). The day-long exchange enabled in-depth technical discussions on topics of mutual interest, including international labour standards, supply chains, SMEs and formalization, just transition, and persons with disabilities. The exchange took place in the framework of the institutional collaboration between the ILO and Working Group, as reflected in the Working Methods of the latter.
