A member of the ILO through its territorial ties with the Kingdom of the Netherlands (a founding member of the ILO since 28 June 1919), Aruba is subject to the ratification and application of key ILO Conventions extended to the country through these ties. The ILO has provided assistance to Aruba in a number of key areas including forced labour, trafficking in person, labour exploitation and migrant smuggling, as it relates to compliance with the legal instruments ratified by Aruba.

ILO’s recent capacity building and technical assistance in Aruba focused on training for youth entrepreneurs in business planning, digital innovation and inclusion and green business.  The ILO will continue to work on strengthening the capacities of these business trainers, particularly attending to the multiple needs of vulnerable groups and will create a Business Trainers Network with continuous access to updated tools and approaches to increase the effectiveness of training and business coaching for vulnerable groups.
